"Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing, absolutely nothing, half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats." ˜Wind In The Willows"™ © Kenneth Grahame 1859-1932.
Your SailingBreaks skipper Andy Taylor, is in total accord with this famous quotation from ˜Wind In The Willows"™. Andy is passionate about sailing and his infectious love of the sport is often taken ashore at the end of a Sailing Break holiday by those who sail with him. Many return to sail again and again with Andy and Brandy. As a Sheffield lad living 90 miles from the sea, Andy was a latecomer to sailing but is living proof it is never too late to learn! The challenging waters of the Humber, Wash, North Norfolk and the North East gave Andy his training ground in yacht sailing. He has thousands of sea miles on his log including Atlantic crossings. His cruising has taken him to:-
East and West Mediterranean
English Channel
Holland and the North Sea
Venezuela
Caribbean
Eastern seaboard USA
Scotland East and West Coasts
The magic of the West Coast of Scotland has captured Andy's sailing dreams and he looks forward to introducing each crew member to this special cruising area.
Whilst Andy would view his experience and sense of fun, as the key qualities required to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable SailingBreak, legislation requires him to hold the RYA® (Royal Yachting Association) Commercial Yachtmaster® certificate.
Whilst on board Brandy for your SailingBreak Andy will make the tea, cook your meals, clean the loo, and pass on his knowledge of sailing should you want to learn. This leaves you free to enjoy the freedom of sailing Brandy to her next destination and experience the thrill of navigating into a safe haven.
Andy claims to have learned something from everyone who has crewed on a SailingBreak. From how to make proper Scottish porridge to sail trimming, he learns every day at sea. Andy hopes every SailingBreaks crew step ashore having learned some sailing skills too!
If sail and navigation training is your objective, you will find Andy a patient instructor, who takes great satisfaction in seeing 'the penny drop' as crew develop sailing skills. As a RYA@ certified instructor Andy can guide you through the RYA® Sail Cruising syllabus, both the practical and theory courses.
