 What Sailing Breaks offer

"I find the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand. As in what direction we are moving; to reach the port of heaven we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it but we must sail, and not drift, nor lie at anchor" © Oliver Wendell Holmes (1809-1894)

Fun Weekend SailingBreaks
Based in Largs Yacht Haven, Ayrshire, SailingBreaks offer a fully inclusive skippered sailing holiday on the Firth of Clyde in Scotland. You reserve a berth on one of the SailingBreaks listed in our programme from £199 inclusive of all food and drink. Many of the SailingBreaks are weekend events, ideal for those who want to try sailing for the first time before committing to a full week at sea. More experienced sailors, unfamiliar with the Firth of Clyde, take a SailingBreak holiday to familiarise themselves with the cruising ground for the first time. Some of the SailingBreaks in our programme offer long weekends based around public holidays. All of these SailingBreaks are timed to link up with local festivals making your SailingBreak something more than just a sailing holiday.

RYA® Practical Sail Training Courses
Take one of the RYA® practical sail training courses. From 'Start Yachting®' through to Yachtmaster®'. Complete these courses over 2 x 3 day weekends or 5 days and use your holiday to gain these internationally recognised qualifications, as a gateway to yacht chartering in the future. Look for the 'RYA' prefix in the programme listed on our 'Prices & Availabilty' page.

Bespoke SailingBreaks
Gaps in our programme are left available for crews who want to book a bespoke SailingBreaks cruise. Please call Andy on 07581 698077 or email info@sailing-breaks.co.uk for details. In previous seasons we have taken charters to St Andrews for the Open Golf!

Mile Building
Many of our Sailing holidays present an deal opportunity to build up miles in your log book. These miles will qualify for RYA® examinations. These are either 5 or 7 day trips. Look for the 'MB' prefix in the programme listed on our 'Prices & Availability' page.

RYA® Specialist 1 Day Courses in Yorkshire
These specialist courses include RYA First Aid, VHF SRC, and Diesel Engine courses. They are essential learning days for boat owners and skippers.

Food & Drink
Your SailingBreak holiday includes all food and drink. Typically, a healthy breakfast, soup and sandwiches for lunch, ending the day with a wholesome supper. 'Brandy', your home for your SailingBreak, is also renowned amongst regular crew for a well stocked 'snack locker' and fruit basket for when the sea air has encouraged an appetite that can't wait for the next scheduled meal! Chilled beer and wine enable the crew to toast Neptune for our good fortune at the end of our sailing day.

Sleeping Arrangements
Never a problem after a day at sea and one of the Skipper's famous hot chocolate night caps, Brandy has 2 berths in the forward cabin, 2 in the aft cabin, 1 in the pilot cabin, and 2 in the saloon. Sleeping bags are provided if required.

Timing
Officially, from 1800 on the start date and ending in the afternoon of the end date. However we want you to make the most of your sailing time and encourage you to arrive earlier. If all crew members do the same we can cast off earlier and get more sailing in!

No matter what type of SailingBreak you choose you can be assured of the very best of Scottish hospitality.
